My room transformation

My Dad decided that since I was on my way, he better get started on my room. He was going to make this extra room a Nascar/Family room. Good thing he never got that started. He packed up all of the nascar stuff and started building my closet/armoir and wall shelf with another dresser. He also made sure that a window seat was part of the plan. When Mom & Dad started looking at furniture, Dad couldn't believe the prices for what he said was borderline junk furniture.

Soooo, with a few hundred dollars on wood and a couple on carpet...he built and remodeld it himself. Papaw Jeff and Mamaw Fleta (who own a commercial painting company) sent over a guy to do the painting when Dad was all done. He could have done that too but Grandpa knew he was a busy guy and did it as a gift to Daddy.

We got the changing table for $5.oo and the main dresser at Goodwill for $50.00 and Daddy painted them too. The little rocking chair was Mommy's when she was little. Mommy's best friend Donna had the window cushion custom made as a gift. The only big thing costly was the crib and crib accesories. Both of were gifts from both sets of Mommy's parents.

What a great room.........

Mom's Babyshower

Grandma Fleta had Mom a babyshower at the same place my parents had there wedding reception. It was on April 1st, 2006 at The Valle Vista Country Club. They figured since everyone was really excited about Mom getting pregnant finally, that they should invite everyone they knew. We had a wonderful buffet "Ladies Luncheon" full of veggies, pita chips with hummus, fruit, pasta salad, and croissants with chicken salad.

Mommy's cousin Mandy helped with games, prizes, and centerpieces...Thanks Mandy! A special thanks for the beautiful quilt that you made with the squares everyone decorated and signed at the shower. What a special gift!

The cake table was beautiful with pink tulips, pink mints, and (pink)white chocolate strawberries. It had an ultrasound picture of me and two nice baby picture collages of both my parents. The cake came from Classic Cakes of course. Chocolate chip with truffle center and pineapple with coconut center.

Lots and lots of gifts. Mommy got all the big stuff on her registry. Carseat, video monitor, stroller, swing, highchair, many clothes, etc...........

Thank you all for such a special day and thank you Mamaw Fleta.........

From the beginning.....

Okay, I am actually 20 months old now but Mom has decided to start a blog on me. A little late but here is my story and a little about my family background.........

Mom and Dad tried concieving for around 8 years with no luck. After plenty of tests on both of them there were still no answers. They just decided that they were not going to do any more costly procedures and if God wanted them to have a baby he would give them one......During this time they were happy to have been able to raise my now 18 year old big brother, so they felt blessed anyway. He was 3 years old when my Mom came into the picture. She adores him just like her own and he has lived with them since 8th grade. Before that they had him every wednesday and every weekend. When he was able to move in with them for highschool off they moved from Lawrence to Carmel.

It wasn't long after the move (10 months) Mom and Dad took a cruise to Aruba...and Mom came back pregnant. Mom says there must have been something in the water down there.

Mom said she didn't really believe she was pregnant until she seen me on the 10 week ultrasound. She said she had no morning sickness and even though the tests and her doctor said she was, she was still sure it was her thyroid unbalanced or something.

Mom had a great pregnancy with no real issues other than normal swelling and her belly measured big alot. She had six ultrasounds including a 3D one that my grandparents and brother got to watch in a room.

Well that is the start of ME babygirl Gamble...Here are some pics during this time.....
